Baby Mum-Mum: Meltable Rice Biscuit

I overheard a co-worker recommending these biscuits to another mom in the office and had to give them a try myself! The Mum-Mum line of baby foods appears to be focused on the transition from purees to solid foods. Their Baby Mum-Mum biscuit can be found at Whole Foods and Target as well as other retail locations, or check out their website here.

The Baby Mum-Mum biscuit is made of 4 ingredients: Japonica rice, potato starch, sugar, and salt. The texture is a true meltable solid. The biscuit is initially crunchy, but quickly dissolves in the mouth with little effort. The oblong and flat shape is great for little hands, but not so small or narrow that they might gag themselves. The flavor is mild and slightly sweet, but not sugary.

Overall, I think this is a great product for little ones who are learning about solid foods. It is also free of eggs, wheat, and dairy (although the label does state that it may contain trace milk products) for babies with allergies or food sensitivities. Offer one with familiar pureed foods to encourage dipping, or offer the biscuits alone for oral-motor play. Remember to always supervise your child whenever he or she is eating.

What do you think of the Mum-Mum line of products?
